What records do I need to submit to begin a GuidedSMILE Zygo case?

Accurate, complete records are the foundation of a predictable Zygo case. The most important difference from a standard CHROME case is that the CBCT must include the eye orbits, because zygomatic anchorage depends on imaging the zygomatic bone.

Required records to begin a GuidedSMILE Zygo case

Record Requirement
CBCT scan Must include the eye orbits. Dentate: scan out of occlusion. Edentulous: use the dual scan technique.
Photographs Full-face / full-smile photos for diagnostics, plus retracted smile in occlusion (straight on, left, and right).
Impressions (dentate) Master casts or PVS impressions. Digital impressions are accepted and must include the vestibule.
Impressions (edentulous) Captured through the dual scan technique.

A few important points to keep records clean and avoid delays.

  • For the edentulous patient, follow the CBCT Dual Scan Protocol. The scan appliance must fit accurately, hold a stable bite, carry 4 to 6 randomly placed radiopaque markers, and be scanned both in the mouth (in occlusion) and alone resting on foam, never on plastic or metal.
  • For the dentate patient, scan the arches out of occlusion so the models can be registered.
  • CBCT data must be exported as uncompressed, multi-slice DICOM. See how to export CBCT files.

Incomplete or poor-quality records are the leading cause of case delay. Review the full patient records resources before submitting, and submit your case through the GuidedSMILE Rx.
