What are the safety, handling, and storage requirements for Apex Flex resin?

This FAQ applies to uncured liquid resin and is intended for practices and laboratories that print Apex Flex in-house. If ROE fabricates your case, the finished, fully cured appliance you receive is not covered by these handling requirements. Apex Flex is professional use only.

Always consult the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS-030) as the authoritative reference.

Hazard classification

Required personal protective equipment

Protection Requirement
Hands Wear impervious resistant gloves. For quantities of 1 gallon (3.8 L) or more, use rubber, nitrile, or impervious plastic gloves
Eyes Chemical splash-proof goggles and/or a face shield
Body Apron recommended. Eye wash stations and deluge showers should be available
Respiratory No special respiratory protection is required under typical circumstances of use or handling
Ventilation General mechanical or natural ventilation is sufficient during normal use

Work practices and storage

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke when handling this product, and do not chew gum, use tobacco, or apply cosmetics in the working area.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin, and avoid inhaling vapors, fumes, and dusts. Wash thoroughly after handling.
  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Keep the container tightly closed when not in use and open containers slowly on a stable surface.
  • Keep away from open flames, sparks, and other ignition sources.
  • Incompatible substances: strong oxidizers, peroxides, strong alkalis or acids, and UV light.
  • Keep out of the reach of children. Empty containers may contain residual product and should be handled with care.

First aid

Exposure Response
Eyes Flush with copious lukewarm water for at least 15 minutes, lifting the upper and lower lids occasionally
Skin Wash thoroughly with soap and water. On contact, flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes
Inhalation Move the person to fresh air. Get medical attention if breathing is difficult
Ingestion Do not induce vomiting. Drink plenty of water or milk immediately and contact a Poison Control Center

If skin irritation or a rash occurs, or if eye irritation persists, get medical help. Remove contaminated clothing promptly and wash it before reuse.

Spills and disposal

For small spills (under 1 gallon), wear gloves and protective eyewear and absorb the product using a non-combustible material such as vermiculite or sand, then place it in a container for later disposal. Do not use water or a product like "speedy dry" to soak up the material.

In their original form, products covered by this SDS are considered non-hazardous waste under Federal RCRA regulations (40 CFR 261). Dispose of in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. For transportation, Apex Flex is not regulated under 49 CFR, IATA, IMDG, TDGR, ADR/RID, SCT, or ADGR.
