What are the ArchBridge for Overdenture clinical workflows?

ArchBridge for Overdenture supports the digital pathways an overdenture practice actually encounters, whether the starting point is the patient's mouth, a prosthesis the patient is already wearing, or a stone model.

In each pathway the role of the ArchBridge component is the same: to place a recognizable reference geometry at each attachment position so the digital library can resolve that position accurately. Each pathway ends with a documented verification step before the case advances to design.

Workflow A: Healing denture to LOCATOR FIXED or Overdenture

  1. Prior to removing the denture, capture IOS scans of the upper arch, lower arch, and bite.
  2. Select the ideal overdenture abutments based on the healed tissue and seat onto each implant.
  3. Capture a scan of the tissue and abutments. Be sure to include all tissue landmarks and the vestibule.
  4. Place a white LOCATOR Processing Spacer into each ArchBridge for Overdenture Scan Body, ensuring it is fully seated and flush with the base of the scan body.
  5. Seat one scan body onto each abutment. Rotate toward the center of the jaw, facing inward, for ease of scanability. Important: make sure the scan bodies are not touching each other and are fully seated.
  6. Capture an IOS scan of the scan bodies. Important: clearly capture the complete round head of the scan body where it attaches to the abutment.
  7. Try in the denture and ensure a passive seat over the newly placed abutments. Relieve where necessary to achieve a full seat. Once full seat is verified, remove the denture.
  8. Using medium body PVS, perform a wash capturing the tissue detail and abutment positions. Seat the denture in occlusion. Once the PVS is set, remove the denture.
  9. Capture a 360 degree extraoral scan of the washed denture with the IOS.
  10. Go to the ROE portal at roedentallab.com/grammetry and upload patient photographs, a completed Rx, and the STL files listed below.

Workflow B: Existing overdenture, replace or convert to LOCATOR FIXED

  1. Prior to removing the denture, capture IOS scans of the upper arch, lower arch, and bite.
  2. Remove the existing prosthesis and capture a scan of the tissue and abutments, including all tissue landmarks and the vestibule.
  3. Place a white LOCATOR Processing Spacer into each ArchBridge for Overdenture Scan Body, ensuring it is fully seated and flush with the base of the scan body.
  4. Seat one scan body onto each abutment and rotate toward the center of the jaw, facing inward. Important: scan bodies must not touch each other and must be fully seated.
  5. Capture an IOS scan of the scan bodies, clearly capturing the complete round head.
  6. Using medium body PVS, perform a wash capturing tissue detail and abutment positions. Seat the denture in occlusion. Once the PVS is set, remove the denture.
  7. Capture a 360 degree extraoral scan of the washed denture with the IOS.
  8. Upload photographs, the completed Rx, and the STL files to the ROE portal.

Workflow C: Extraoral capture using ScanAnalogs

Use this pathway when working from an existing prosthesis or a stone model.

  1. Remove the existing retention inserts and replace them with black processing inserts.
  2. Place a ScanAnalog into each LOCATOR site and ensure full seat. Note: ensure that the shiny side of the two-sided analog is inserted into the denture.
  3. Place a white LOCATOR Processing Spacer into each ArchBridge for Overdenture Scan Body, ensuring it is fully seated and flush with the base of the scan body.
  4. Seat one scan body onto each ScanAnalog. Rotate toward the center of the denture, facing inward, for ease of scanability. Important: scan bodies must not touch each other and must be fully seated.
  5. Capture a 360 degree extraoral scan of the scan bodies with the IOS, clearly capturing the complete round head of each scan body.
