How do I configure and scan with ArchBridge for Overdenture?

The four configuration variables

When using ArchBridge for Overdenture, you control four variables when establishing an ideal configuration in the mouth.

Step Variable What to do
1 Secure spacers on abutments Securely attach a white LOCATOR Processing Spacer on each LOCATOR abutment with a firm push on a solid surface.
2 Select shape Various scan body shapes and lengths give you options for variance in the distance between abutments.
3 Rotate Attach the scan body to the abutment and rotate toward the center of the arch, facing inside, for ease of scanability.
4 Prevent contact Each scan body should be almost touching the next scan body in line, with a small visible gap. Scan bodies must not actually contact one another.

Scan guidelines

Do:

  • Make sure each processing spacer is fully seated onto the scan body and that each scan body is fully seated onto each abutment.
  • Scan continuously, either left to right or right to left.
  • Scan from the posterior most scan body to the contralateral side.
  • Focus on capturing the full rounded head where the scan body attaches to the abutment, then move down the horizontal arm, continue to the next scan body, and repeat until all scan bodies are captured.
  • Stop when the last scan body is captured.

Do not:

  • Do not re-scan areas you have already scanned. This can cause double imaging.
  • Do not scan the tissue during the scan body scan. Tissue detail is captured on the separate abutment and tissue scan.

Verification before you move on

Inspect the scan during and after capture to confirm that each component and its defined scanning feature are adequately recorded. The workflow does not proceed on data suspected of carrying inaccurate position information. Keep in mind that the round head of the scan body with the 45 degree bevel is the most critical scanning area.

If capture is incomplete or a component was unstable, rescan within the same appointment. See the troubleshooting article for specific corrections.

After the scan

Scan bodies come out of the mouth after verification, ScanAnalogs come out of the prosthesis before it returns to the patient, and single-use spacers are discarded. The digital record moves forward. The reference hardware does not.
