Can Passivity Plus™ be used in special clinical scenarios?

Passivity Plus™ is engineered for flexibility across a range of full-arch clinical scenarios, including salvage cases, titanium bar substructures, and prosthesis upgrades. Because its adjustments operate at the micron scale, it delivers this versatility without affecting the bite or vertical dimension. The table below answers the most common compatibility and clinical impact questions.

Common Clinical Scenarios

Scenario Compatible? Details
Fractured prosthesis repair Yes Passivity Plus™ is specifically intended for repairing minor discrepancies without starting over, making it valuable for salvaging cases that might otherwise require a complete remake.
Replacing existing traditional Ti-bases No (not a direct swap) Existing Ti-base copings have a different geometry. New records must be captured and the case fabricated with Passivity Plus™ components. In many cases, the existing prosthesis can still be used as a reference to fabricate the new one.
Titanium bar substructures Yes Compatible provided the framework allows for proper seating and torque. Real-world cases using titanium bars have been completed successfully with excellent results.
Effect on occlusion / bite opening No effect Each base moves only microns (less than 2°). Even with 4-6 bases adjusting simultaneously, the cumulative effect does not raise the prosthesis or open the bite.

A Note on the Educational Animation

The official Passivity Plus™ animation shows exaggerated movement for educational clarity. In clinical reality, adjustments are barely perceptible and well below the threshold that could affect occlusion or vertical dimension. The system is designed to correct normal, minor discrepancies, not large clinical errors.

The Bottom Line

Passivity Plus™ adapts to a wide range of full-arch workflows, including salvage and substructure cases, without introducing occlusal changes. The only scenario it cannot handle is direct substitution for existing traditional Ti-base copings, which require new records and fabrication with native Passivity Plus™ components.
