What's in the Prosthetic Conversion Kit, and how do I use the bonding material?
Included: VOCO Quick-Up (self-cure), adhesive blockout gaskets, syringeable blockout, and applicators.
For context, a standard chairside conversion takes about 15 minutes using a handpiece, burs, curing light, and compressed air, with flowable acrylic (e.g., STELLAR) and titanium copings.
Using the bonding material correctly:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Do I have to use the adhesive? | Yes, the material will not bond without the bonding agent. |
| Is the VOCO light-cure, self-cure, or dual-cure? | The kit includes self-cure only VOCO Quick-Up. |
| Does the prosthetic have to be dry? | Yes, completely dry and clean of blood. A dry or contaminated cylinder surface makes future debonding imminent. |
| Should the inside of the cylinders be adjusted for retention? | Yes, roughening the cylinder interior for mechanical retention is very helpful, especially if not using VOCO or GC Pattern Resin. |
| Good alternatives when VOCO is missing? | Duralay, acrylic, Holmes Quick Set, GC Pattern Resin, or STELLAR. If none are available, ask a local doctor. Do not use standard acrylics. |
