What should I do if the carrier guide breaks or won't seat?

Never force or bend the Carrier Guide. It will break, which is detrimental to success. There are three main reasons it won't seat:

  1. Something is in the CHROME Loc box — inspect and clean carefully (look for clear, hard-to-see broken plastic).
  2. Insufficient bone reduction is holding it up.
  3. Soft tissue is in the way — place a stitch or reflect more.

If the Carrier Guide breaks: If a CHROME Loc insert breaks, the remaining two are sufficient. If more break, hold the Carrier Guide down through the remaining steps. If it breaks in half, reinforce with acrylic on the intaglio side only (never the occlusal side, which would raise the prosthetic). There's a gap beneath it and the bone that can be reinforced.
