What preparation requirements should I follow for a zRc crown?
| Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Marginal reduction | Minimum 0.8 mm |
| Occlusal clearance | Minimum 1.5 mm |
The preparation geometry is critical: it must provide stability and allow the crown to seat in only one correct position, preventing the crown from rocking or seating incorrectly. Keep margins clean and dry throughout — blood or fluid at the margin during scanning produces inaccurate digital impressions and can lead to open or short margins on the final restoration.
For non-retentive or limited-clearance preparations, plan for bonding rather than conventional cementation (see Q6).
