What is the step-by-step surgical workflow for using the tissue supported surgical guide?
ROE recommends the following workflow when using a tissue-supported surgical guide. Always follow your guided kit and implant company's protocol alongside these steps.
| Step | Instruction |
|---|---|
| 1 | Inspect the guide for proper implant site placement, as well as proper design and sizing for any instrumentation. |
| 2 | Seat the guide intraorally securely onto the tissue surface and verify a full seat through a window, if present. If there is rocking, adjust if possible for a full seat. If a full seat is not possible, you must begin again with new records. If fixation pins are included, firmly hold the guide in position, drill the buccal holes, and place the pins through the guide. If the guide has integrated teeth (as the denture scan appliance), close the patient into the bite to set the fixation. Without fixation screws or pins, firmly hold the guide in position. |
| 3 | Drill the osteotomies to completion following the provided drill report as well as the guided kit and implant company's protocol. If a fully guided kit is utilized and allows implant placement through the guide, proceed. If a fully guided kit is not utilized, remove the guide and place the implants. |
| 4 | Complete the desired bone and tissue procedure to finish the surgery. |
A critical checkpoint is Step 2: confirming a full, stable seat. Because the guide is supported by resilient tissue rather than rigid teeth, verifying seating and using fixation (when included) are essential to controlling accuracy.
