What is the CLEARsplint™ made of, and what are its material specifications?

The CLEARsplint™ is fabricated from a modified composite formulation rather than conventional acrylic. The composite can be press-packed or poured to the prescribed bite plane, and it is engineered for exceptional dimensional stability. The most clinically relevant properties are summarized below.

Property Specification Why it matters clinically
Base material Modified composite (not conventional acrylic) Stronger, more durable appliance than a traditional nightguard
Chemistry Amine-free and MMA-free Amine-free formulation resists yellowing; MMA-free formulation helps eliminate methyl-methacrylate allergy concerns
Clarity Optically clear Appliance is virtually invisible when worn, supporting daytime wear
Flexibility Semi-flexible Comfortable adaptation and seating for the patient
Self-adjustment Activates in warm water ("Heat & Seat") Allows the closest fit and reduces in-office adjustment
Dimensional stability High Reduces postoperative chair time and the number of adjustments
Fabrication method Press-packed or poured to the prescribed bite plane Accurately reproduces the doctor's specified occlusal scheme
Repositioning features Can incorporate ramps and guide planes Supports mandibular repositioning when prescribed

Because the formulation is amine-free, the appliance is engineered to resist yellowing over time, and the MMA-free composition makes it a strong candidate for patients who are allergic to acrylics or metals. The combination of strength and accuracy is what allows the CLEARsplint™ to offer enhanced longevity compared with traditional nightguards. ROE notes that it uses only FDA-approved materials and that all products are made in the USA.
