What is the bonding and seating protocol for EZneer zirconia veneers?
Zirconia bonding was historically the material's weak point. With surface treatment applied before sintering, adhesive performance is now in line with glass ceramics. That said, zirconia is not treated like lithium disilicate, and the single most common cause of failure is applying a glass-ceramic protocol to a zirconia veneer.
ROE seating protocol

| 1. Etch | Etch the inner surface of the veneer. Do not use any phosphoric or hydrofluoric acid. |
| 2. Rinse and dry | Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. |
| 3. Prime | Use a ceramic primer containing MDP and coat the bonding surface evenly. |
| 4. Bond | Use a light cure resin-based adhesive to complete the bonding. This also prevents the restoration from darkening over time. |
Why each restriction matters
- Hydrofluoric acid does not etch zirconia the way it etches glass ceramics. Using it wastes a step and can contaminate the bonding surface.
- Phosphoric acid can leave phosphate residue that occupies the sites your MDP primer needs, which reduces bond strength rather than improving it.
- MDP is the functional monomer that chemically bonds to zirconia. A primer without it will not deliver the intended adhesion.
- Light cure adhesives are specified for these ultra-thin restorations to avoid the color shift and darkening associated with self-cure and dual-cure chemistries. Because EZneer is thin and translucent, adequate light transmission is achievable.
Before you cement
- Try in each veneer individually, then collectively, to confirm seating and margins.
- Verify shade at try-in before any surface is contaminated.
- Avoid contaminating the treated inner surface. Handle veneers by the facial surface and keep the bonding surface clean and dry until you prime.
- Isolate thoroughly. Ultra-thin veneers are unforgiving of moisture and blood contamination.
