What is GuidedSMILE Natural, and what is an FP1 restoration?

GuidedSMILE Natural™ is a surgical guide and prosthetic system for full-arch implant cases where the goal is to preserve the patient's natural bone architecture rather than flatten it. It is the FP1 version of the patented CHROME GuidedSMILE family of products, and it delivers a crown-and-bridge style prosthesis that meets the gum tissue with no visible pink acrylic, mimicking natural teeth emerging from the gums.

An FP1 restoration (Fixed Prosthesis 1, per the Misch classification) is a full-arch, tooth-only, implant-supported fixed prosthesis that replaces only the anatomical crowns of the missing teeth. No soft tissue is replicated in prosthetic material. This is what separates it from the alternatives:

Prosthesis How it compensates for tissue loss
FP1 Replaces crowns only, no pink material. The restoration emerges from the gingival margin like natural teeth. Most esthetically favorable and most conservative.
FP2 Compensates through an elongated clinical crown (a little pink).
FP3 Compensates by adding gingival-colored material and typically requires bone leveling (a lot of pink).

The philosophy is summarized in the FP1 Handbook as "saving bone, not flattening bone." FP1 is appropriate when adequate hard and soft tissue volume exists. It also preserves optionality: if ridge changes eventually preclude the tooth-only emergence profile, the case can transition to an FP3 later. This long-term view is especially relevant for the growing population of younger full-arch patients, where aggressive bone reduction today can reduce retreatment options decades from now.
