What is a LOCATOR Overdenture and how does it work?

A LOCATOR Overdenture is an implant-retained removable denture. Instead of resting only on the gums, the denture snaps onto LOCATOR stud attachments connected to the patient's implants, which adds retention and stability while remaining removable for cleaning. ROE designs the components with CAD/CAM for a passive fit and even force distribution.

Three features define the system:

  • Narrow-diameter implants (2.4 to 2.9 mm): smaller implants that can be placed in more confined spaces and with less surgical trauma.
  • Pivoting attachment technology: the LOCATOR attachment accommodates up to 40 degrees of divergence between implants, which compensates for angulation differences that would otherwise complicate the restoration.
  • Fewer implants than a fixed solution: the overdenture is retained by fewer implants than a fixed full-arch prosthesis, which reduces surgical complexity and cost.

The prosthesis itself is a denture reinforced with a metal substructure (or FiberForce), with the LOCATOR attachment parts seated in the base.
