What clinical situations is IPS e.max Monolithic best suited for?
ROE positions IPS e.max Monolithic primarily for single-unit cases where both durability and natural esthetics matter and where cost efficiency is desired. Its high translucency makes it especially well suited to teeth toward the front and middle of the mouth.
| Indication | Notes |
|---|---|
| Anterior crowns | Strong choice where natural translucency is important |
| Bicuspid (premolar) crowns | Listed as a core indication on the product profile |
| Onlays | Listed on the ROE product page |
| Inlays and veneers | Supported by the material's versatility for partial-coverage and laminate cases |
| Short-span anterior bridges | Listed as an option in ROE's fixed restoration comparison grid |
For heavy-load posterior and molar restorations, ROE generally positions its higher-strength full-contour zirconia products (zRc and TLZ), which carry a substantially higher flexural strength.
When deciding between layered and monolithic in general, the guiding principle is to layer in the anterior when esthetics is the top priority and to choose monolithic in load-bearing areas when strength is the primary concern.
