What can CLEARaline treat, and what are its limitations?
CLEARaline supports anterior, premolar, and full-arch movements and is used to treat a range of common malocclusions. As a rule of thumb, not all cases can be treated, and case difficulty is reflected in the number of trays required: crowding and spacing tend to need fewer trays, while crossbite and open bite tend to need more. The clearest way to see what is and is not in scope:
| CLEARaline treats | CLEARaline does not do |
|---|---|
| Crowding | Molar movements |
| Spacing | Band treatment |
| Midline shift | Elastics (not currently available) |
| Overbite | Cases outside its movement limits (see FAQ 3) |
| Crossbite and open bite | Not every case is a candidate |
Because the treating practitioner is solely responsible for the clinical decision to treat (see FAQ 7), evaluate each patient against these capabilities before submitting. When a case approaches or exceeds the movement maximums, or relies on molar movement, bands, or elastics, CLEARaline is not the appropriate tool and another orthodontic approach should be considered.
