What are the two GuidedSMILE Zygo guidance options, and how do they differ?
Zygo planning and guidance comes in two forms. The right choice depends on your surgical workflow, the implant systems involved, and how you intend to capture records and deliver the prosthesis.
Option 1: CHROME GuidedSMILE or CombiGuide with planned sleeves
This is the traditional CHROME GuidedSMILE or CombiGuide approach, designed with planned sleeves that control the restorative exit position of the zygoma implant for prosthetic pick-up. The guide is best suited for pilot drilling. Subsequent drilling can be followed without a sleeve, and other options can be used. This surgical and restorative option gives both the surgical and restorative teams a very predictable protocol.
Option 2: Metal, bone-supported guide
This is a metal, bone-supported guide for specialty implants. It can also deliver pre-manufactured prostheses when desired, or serve as a design service for Grammetry or photogrammetry. The prosthesis is palatally supported with prepositioned holes. Cases are planned live online with ROE's experienced technicians and the specialists.
| Consideration | Option 1: CHROME / CombiGuide | Option 2: Bone-supported guide |
|---|---|---|
| Primary control | Restorative exit position via planned sleeves | Bone channel, depth, position for planned implants |
| Support | Stackable guide system | Bone-borne, screwed down |
| Best use | Pilot drilling, predictable restorative pick-up | Specialty implants, pre-manufactured prostheses |
| Records / digital | Conventional or digital prosthetic workflow | Pre-positioned holes; Grammetry / photogrammetry friendly |
Both systems can incorporate the implant brands listed in FAQ 3. If you are not sure which option suits your case, ROE will help you decide during online planning.
