What are the 11 Bespoke smile models, and how do I choose the right tooth shape?

Bespoke offers 11 smile models as starting points. They are designed to emulate the organic contours and proportions found in natural dentition. They are starting points, not limits. ROE's designers can create any custom shape you envision.

The two cuspid families

Every Bespoke smile model belongs to one of two cuspid families, and this is the single largest driver of the smile's character.

  • Pointed cuspids are sharp and angular, lending a more youthful, energetic appearance.
  • Rounded cuspids are curved and blunted, lending a more mature, approachable appearance.

Beyond the cuspid, the centrals and laterals vary in how square or round each corner is. Each tooth is described by its mesial and distal corner.

The 11 models compared

Smile model Cuspid family Centrals (mesial / distal) Laterals (mesial / distal) Character
Functional Pointed Square / Semi-round Square / Round Slightly rounded teeth with pointier canines for easier biting and chewing
Detailed Functional Pointed Square / Semi-round Square / Round Functional with more pronounced anatomy and a smoother, more esthetic look
Natural Pointed Square / Round Round / Round Best reflects the average person's dentition; rounder than Functional
Detailed Natural Pointed Square / Round Round / Round More pronounced anatomy, smoother cuspid, gentle arch to centrals and laterals
Youthful Pointed Round / Round Round / Round Exaggerated Natural, with rounded oval teeth and pointy canines
Detailed Youthful Pointed Round / Round Round / Round More pronounced anatomy, rounder cuspid, shorter and rounder centrals and laterals
Oval Rounded Round / Round Round / Round All teeth rounded, including centrals and incisors
Detailed Oval Rounded Round / Round Round / Round Oval with more pronounced anatomy, rounder cuspid, shorter rounder anteriors

Detailed Enhanced Rounded Square / Square Square / Square Enhanced with more pronounced anatomy and a more youthful, esthetic look
Hollywood Rounded Square / Round Square / Round Square teeth with slightly smaller laterals; cuspids slightly flatter and shorter

Reading the "Detailed" variants: A Detailed model shares the same corner geometry as its parent model but carries more pronounced tooth anatomy. Choose Detailed when the patient wants visible, lifelike surface character rather than a smoother, more uniform surface.

Interactive 3D models

The Bespoke product page hosts interactive 3D models of all 11 smiles. You can zoom, rotate, and view full screen. This is an effective chairside tool for narrowing a patient's preference before you write the Rx.

Alternatives to the Bespoke models

You are not required to select from the 11. The Rx accommodates several other routes.

A practical selection approach
  1. Decide the cuspid family first, since it sets youthful versus mature.
  2. Decide how much surface anatomy the patient wants, which selects standard versus Detailed.
  3. Confirm the choice against the patient's age, face shape, and stated goals, then record the reasoning in the Rx instructions field.
  4. If the patient brings a reference photo, send it. A photograph frequently communicates more than a model name.
