How should I prepare teeth for EZneer zirconia veneers?
Preparation design has a direct effect on fit, bond durability, and fracture resistance. Follow the ROE specifications below.
Preparation specifications
| Prep area | ROE specification |
|---|---|
| Facial reduction | 0.3 to 0.5 mm |
| Margin | 0.2 mm chamfer margin, placed at or slightly subgingival |
| Incisal edge | 0.75 to 1.5 mm of reduction, 90-degree butt joint preferred |
| Interproximal | Extend the prep into the interproximal, halfway through the contacts |
Practical notes
- Keep facial reduction uniform. Uneven reduction on an ultra-thin veneer creates thin spots that compromise strength and thick spots that alter shade.
- A defined chamfer beats a feather edge. A 0.2 mm chamfer gives the technician a readable margin and gives you a definite seating stop.
- Placing the margin at or slightly subgingival helps hide the transition, which matters most when masking discoloration.
- Favor the butt joint incisally. A 90-degree butt joint distributes load better than a thin, unsupported lip of material.
- Extending halfway through the contacts keeps the interproximal transition out of direct view and gives the technician room to build proper contour and contacts.
- Do not leave the margin on unsupported composite or existing restorations where it can be avoided. Bond quality depends on the substrate you leave behind.
