How much tooth movement is possible with CLEARaline per tray and per case?
CLEARaline moves teeth in small, controlled increments. Each tray has a per-tray maximum, and each case has a cumulative per-case maximum that is higher when attachments are used (see FAQ 4). The table below lists the movement maximums published in ROE's CLEARaline guide.
| Movement | Per tray max | Anterior (no attach.) | Anterior (with attach.) | Posterior (with attach.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rotation | 2° | 28° | 40° | 30° |
| Inclination | 1° | 7° | 14° | 10° |
| Angulation | 1° | 7° | 14° | 5° |
| Extrusion (attachments only) | 0.25 mm | N/A | 2.5 mm | 1.0 mm |
| Intrusion | 0.25 mm | 2.5 mm | 2.5 mm | 2.0 mm |
| Translation: left/right | 0.25 mm | 2.5 mm | 2.5 mm | 2.5 mm |
| Translation: forward/backward | 0.25 mm | Depends on lower buccal tooth position | Depends on lower buccal tooth position | Distal 2.0 mm, Mesial 1.5 mm |
Two practical takeaways: extrusion requires attachments (it is not available for anterior cases without them), and attachments roughly double the per-case rotation, inclination, and angulation achievable in the anterior. If a planned correction exceeds these figures, the case is outside CLEARaline's range. ROE's design team builds the staging to stay within the per-tray maximums automatically.
