How is the Acetal Partial seated and adjusted?
The Acetal Partial is milled for an accurate fit, so at seating adjustments should be none to minimal. Because the material is flexible when thin and rigid when thick, the clasps are designed to engage natural undercuts on the teeth rather than the tissue, which improves retention and reduces tissue irritation.
At the seating appointment, ROE's protocol calls for:
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| Pressure check | Use pressure indicating paste to determine pressure areas |
| Adjust | Make adjustments as necessary based on the marked pressure areas |
| Finish and polish | Finish and polish the appliance |
| Seat | Seat the new final partial denture |
Because acetal has virtually zero water absorption and a non-porous surface, the finished appliance resists staining, odor, and plaque accumulation, which simplifies patient hygiene. The material's lack of thermal conductivity also means patients do not experience the temperature sensitivity sometimes associated with metal frameworks. For a step-by-step demonstration, refer to the Zirlux Acetal Step-by-Step video and the Zirlux Acetal technical sheet.
