How does zRc perform on strength, esthetics, and wear?
| Quick stat | zRc rating |
|---|---|
| Strength | ★★★★★ — 1100 MPa flexural strength (highest tier, tied with TLZ) |
| Esthetics | ★★★☆☆ (good; less translucent than esthetic ceramics) |
| Wear resistance | ★★★★★ (highest tier) |
The key benefit is superior strength, ideal for posterior restorations. At ~1100 MPa it sits at the top of ROE's fixed line alongside TLZ, well above lithium disilicate (e.max ~400–530 MPa) and porcelain-layered options. Wear resistance is also top-tier — appropriate for the heavy occlusal demands of molars. The trade-off is translucency: while the latest 4Y generation improved light transmission, zRc still doesn't match TLZ or the e.max line esthetically. For cases where appearance is the priority, a more translucent or layered material is the better fit.
