How does the workflow differ for dentate cases and for the Facial Drill Channel option?
ROE provides distinct workflows depending on whether the patient is dentate versus edentulous, and whether the guide includes a Facial Drill Channel for bone reduction.
Dentate workflow: When teeth are still present, the key difference is that you extract teeth and flap the gums before placing the guide. After extraction and flapping, the steps mirror the edentulous workflow: inspect the guide, set fixation (pins, or close into the bite if integrated teeth are present), drill the osteotomies per the drill report and kit protocol, and complete the bone and tissue procedure.
Facial Drill Channel (bone reduction) workflow: This option adds a guided bone-scoring step. The sequence is:
| Step | Instruction |
|---|---|
| 1 | Inspect the guide for proper implant site placement, design, and instrumentation sizing. |
| 2 | If the patient is dentate, extract teeth and flap the gums. If fully edentulous, proceed to flap right away, since the guide sits on the bone. |
| 3 | Seat the guide onto the bone surface. Minor bone adjustments may be needed for a full seat. Set fixation with pins, or close into the bite if integrated teeth are present, or firmly hold the guide if no fixation is used. |
| 4 | Drill the osteotomies to completion per the drill report and kit protocol. Place implants through the guide if the fully guided kit allows, otherwise remove the guide and place implants. |
| 5 | Pass a #6 round bur through the Facial Drill Channel and score a line into the bone the length of the channel. |
| 6 | Remove the guide. |
| 7 | This guide may be used to drill osteotomies and place implants prior to or after bone reduction, depending on the kit's prolongation capabilities and how the guide was requested. |
The scored line created in Step 5 gives you a precise, pre-planned reference for bone reduction. For more on this feature, ROE offers a "What is the Bone Channel Guide?" video on the product page.
